The seller is holding a check while my mom and dad go check out a Miata, but unless they’re really taken with that he’ll be taking this home next week. Between this and my motorcycle, this summer is shaping up to be very exciting.

Apparently they found a Miata that they liked better (which I didn’t anticipate), so they might actually be bringing that home instead. My dad has a 2013 Golf TDI (he has a long commute so the mpg is key), my mom has a 2011 328xi (at least it has the inline six!). They also have a 2007 Subaru Outback that my mom drives a lot, and it sees use a hauler for projects or mountain biking or the sailboat and stuff. There’s also a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe that my dad bought last year in what must have been a fit of insanity, but that thing is a complete POS and they are getting rid of it to make room for the new car.

What generation of Miata? If it were up to me I would get the S2k, but it’s not! :P The E9x is my favorite generation of 3 series so no hate from me! The interior is a little bit disappointing as far as materials go, but compared to the C-Class at the time it was par for the course. How is the Outback? My family is starting the process of looking for a new large-ish car. We aren’t that impressed with the last generation Outback. The current generation is fantastic, but we also want to consider the used market this time around. Ew, hearing about your other cars, the Santa Fe seems like quite the outlier in what is generally a nice fleet! Glad they’re going to get rid of it.

NC. I’d probably take the S2k as well, but my parents want a car to go touring in, not a corner carver, so it sort of makes more sense for them. I like all the cars they have except the Santa Fe, serious have no idea wtf was going through my dad’s head when he bought that one. It was the (completely inadequate) replacement for our 2001 Ford Explorer that had starting eating radiators for breakfast. I like the Outback a lot actually. Plenty of room inside without being too big (I hate how large the current Outback is). Not fast or anything like that, but that’s not what it was made for.
